“Enabling innovative technologies legally“ is the mission of Prof. Dr. Beatrix Weber with her re-search team “Law in Sustainability, Compliance and IT” at the Institute for Information Systems at Hof University, Bavaria, Germany.
The research is focused on the interface of Law and IT including legal questions of AI, data govern-ance and data protection as well as Compliance. For integrating law, ethics and sustainability in digital processes Beatrix Weber has created the approach of “legal process modeling” which allows modeling processes and data infrastructures according to Ethics-and-Legal-by-Design as well as to Sustainability-by-Design. A special research focus lies on legal questions of the digitalization of the construction sector in different German and European research projects. Prof. Weber is editor of the German research book “Data Governance”.
Before starting her academic career, Prof. Weber worked several years as legal counsel in the automotive industry with a special focus on international legal work in the US and Southeast Asia.
