His main research goal is "Towards Resilient Infrastructure Systems in Ever-Changing Built Environments for Long-Term Sustainability", with specific keywords of Bridge Earthquake Engineering, Resilience, Liquefaction/Scour, Multi-Hazard Risk Analysis, and AI/ML-Aided Modeling. Dr. Xiaowei Wang is the Associate Editor of ASCE Journal of Structural Engineering, and the Proceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) - Bridge Engineering, and the Editorial Board member of IABSE's official journal Structural Engineering International. He (or his research work) has been listed/awarded in Elsevier's Global Top 2% Scientists (2022), Editor's Choice Paper Awards by Journal of Structural Engineering (2021), and Engineering Structures (2023), ASCE Outstanding Reviewer Recognition (2019).
