To support structural health analysis, instrumentation and data acquisition are required.

At a high level, this takes place using electrical cables, optical cables, and/or wireless communication.

With regards to vibration measurement, three main technologies are available:

1. Piezo-electric accelerometers

2. MEMS accelerometers

3. Optical accelerometers

Leading manufacturers in that field, such as HBK, offer instruments across these three technologies.

The research, yet to be finalized, will:

- Show the results obtained on a test bench using samples of the above three main technologies for vibration measurement

- Detail the data acquisition systems required for each technology

- Compare the pros and cons of each approach, both technically and financially

- Present ways to integrate and time-synchronize each technology with the others
