The double-deck steel truss bridges have been widely used due to the demand for accommodating high traffic volume. This article mainly introduces the structural design and disaster-reduction considerations of two double-deck steel truss cable-supported bridges in China. The paper first introduces the development of double-deck steel truss cable-supported bridges. Then the structural design of two double-deck steel truss girder cable-supported bridges are described, which are the Shiziyang Bridge with a main span of 2180m (a double-deck truss suspension bridge) and the Xiangshan Bridge with a main span of 880m (a double-deck truss cable-stayed bridge). Further, the wind resistance and fire resistance research process and performance enhancement measures for the two bridges are provided. Finally, some suggestions and development prospects for large-span cable-supported bridges with double-deck truss girder are given.
